Faith
I received a post card from Vanessa today; she sent it off ten days ago from the Yukon Territory. They made it to Anchorage, AK six days ago; what an amazing accomplishment! I’m really looking forward to seeing her back in Austin in ~10 days.
…her, and everyone else I’ve missed this summer…
In two weeks I start my junior year at the University of Texas. Exciting, and scary as hell; all at the same time. What on earth am I going to when I graduate? That’s still a long ways away I guess; although time seems to go by quicker and quicker these days… I’ve thought about moving, back to Alaska of all places, when I’m finished with my degree. I’m not sure how useful an Anthropology/Portuguese major focusing on South America will be that far north, but it’s so beautiful up there – the northern lights, mountains, wildlife – I love it all. So, who knows…
I think my head is always up in the clouds; I guess that can be a good or bad thing sometimes. Its soft up here, in the clouds; I can’t really remember the last time my life really stressed me out. And, that’s a really nice way to live; I wish more people around me were able to see that – able to see that no matter what this world throws at you, with patience and perseverance it’ll all eventually work itself out. Call it faith if you will – I live my life with endless and endless amounts of faith.
Faith is always an interesting topic for me, because its so often associated with some form of religious belief – which I haven’t taken a particular affiliation with in my life…yet… Regardless of what one has faith in – be it residing in religion, or other entities of this world – having faith is all that really matters to me; so get some, live through it, and share it with the world around you.
It’s late, and I’m tired…

Sorry for the latest lapse in blog posting frequency; I have a valid excuse this time… My computer literally caught on fire, and I have pictures to prove it! My old and cheap power supply blew up, sending a surge of power into my video card, turning it into the raging inferno you can observe in the pictures. Nothing to call the fire department about, and after replacing the PSU and video card (giving me a good excuse to upgrade to something nicer) everything is running smooth. I guess it’s good to know a thing or two about the inner workings of the computer.
Your Feet
By Pablo Neruda
When I cannot look at your face
I look at your feet.
Your feet of arched bone,
your hard little feet.
I know that they support you,
and that your sweet weight
rises upon them.
But I love your feet
only because they walked
upon the earth and upon
the wind and upon the waters,
until they found me.
I thought this was really nice; hope you all enjoy it as well…
Twenty Three Days
It’s August already; the temperature is rising, and my homecoming is almost here! Where in the world does my time seem to go to? Right about now I’m really beginning to miss home…
I bought a bed today for my new apartment; actually it’s a futon, because what’s cooler than a couch and a bed…together… Actually I wanted something that could conserve a bit of space, because a lack of clutter is always nice; and seeing how a futon can fold up and go against a wall I think I’ve accomplished that purpose. But anyways, I’ve slowly been acquiring all the necessities for pleasant living on my own, and when the U-haul rolls into Austin I’ll be good to go. I’m so excited; this being my first apartment and all.
I was checking over this Fall’s course schedule last night, making sure I remembered the classes I signed up for, and I’m pretty sure this will be my favorite semester yet. I have a lot of really cool courses…
It’s just hard to believe that I only have twenty three more days until my normal life starts back up again; it’ll be so nice. I’m thinking about taking a trip down to Monterrey, Mexico for a few days before then; if I can find a little time to get away. My brother was down there recently and said it was a really nice city, so I think I’ll take his advice and go check things out. But as nice as it has been to waste some time this summer, productivity is calling my name again. It’s time to write again, something besides the usual blog ramblings; time to be buried under books again; time to actually have to manage the hours in a day again; time to party on a Thursday night when I have an exam Friday morning, and pass with an ‘A’ again (ok; maybe not too many of those anymore)…but, you get the idea.
It’s time to finally open back up and let someone else into my world too, and I definitely can’t wait to see where that will take me…
23 days… Happy August!
